There have been a number of questions asked by the sangat with regards to the 1 million Chaupai Sahib’s and hence this FAQ section has been created. If you have any further questions, please contact us and let us know.
Question: If I can’t read gurbani i.e. read the Chaupai Sahib in Gurmukhi/Punjabi can I listen to the audio verion? Does this still count as 1 paath completed?
Answer: Yes. If you cannot read the Bani then please either listen to it being read or watch one of the videos. Both audio and video can be downloaded from the 'Downloads' section of this website. You can also listen to the path being done as Kirtan if you wish. This also counts as one paath.
Question: I read Chaupai Sahib as part of my daily Nitnem Bani’s, can I include this paath in my daily count?
Answer: The daily morning nitnem (i.e. the paath we should all read daily) includes the Japji Sahib, the Jaap Sahib, the Swaiyeh, Chaupai Sahib and the Anand Sahib. If you read the nitnem everyday, then please do not include the nitnem Chaupai Sahib in your daily count. The ones that you do for the panth are done addition to the morning prayer.
Question: How often do I need to submit my completed number of Chaupai Sahib’s?
Answer: We ask that you submit your number every week if possible, or every fortnight.
Question: My parents are helping to do some Chaupai Sahib’s as well, what shall I do with their numbers?
Answer: If your parents or relatives do not have access to the internet, or do not know how to submit their numbers, please could you add their number to yours and submit them together. We recommend that everyone who is taking part in this, asks their parents and family to join in as well.
Question: I have been doing one Chaupai Sahib everyday since I found out about the start of this programme. Is this ok, or do I need to do more? One a day does not seem a lot when compared to a total of 1 million!
Answer: Every single Chaupai Sahib completed counts. Whether you do one a day or 30 a day, it all counts. While we encourage everyone to do as many as they can, every single one done, is one closer to the total.
Question: I would like to get involved in this project, what can i do to help?
Answer: You can help in many ways. Firstly you can do as many Chaupai Sahib’s as you can. You could help in spreading the word to the global Sikh and non-Sikh community and asking them to get involved. Also you can help by arranging events in your local area to encourage people to get involved and educate them about our history. Please see the ‘Get Involved’ section for more ideas!
